Lobbying women interests in Belarus

Everywoman

Going live on 22 September 1999, everywoman.co.uk was the first site for women to launch in the UK. Our vision was to build a place that offered women the resources they needed in order to make a more informed decision, be it about their business, family, finances or their health. We wanted it to be a place where women could come to research, ask questions, source information or just let off steam. So we laid the foundations of a library that offered impartial information, we invited experts on board who could advise members and we provided the means by which members could start to build their own community - a series of bulletin boards where they could offer each other support, advice and opinions.

Where we're going...

Today, the everywoman community uses the site as both an online resource and a place to meet like-minded women. They dip in and out for the information they need, they ask each other for their opinions and turn to our experts for advice. We have learned a lot from the community and are dedicated to building a site that reflects their lives and addresses their needs - the site is an ever-changing work in progress.

One of the ways we are developing our offering is through our partnerships with companies who are also dedicated to supporting women. We know that the priorities for everywoman members are work, financial independence, family and wellbeing. It is in these areas that we shall be focusing our efforts going forward, specifically in the business world.

To that end we are working both on and off line with companies like IBM and NatWest Bank who support us in our effort to produce such an environment.

Today, there are close to one million women-owned businesses in the UK - 26% of all firms and this figure is growing all the time. Often women are put off from going into business as access to vital professional advice can cost large amounts of money. Here at everywoman we are working closely with leading industry experts and professionals to find ways to bring you information, advice and help to equip you with the tools you need to start or grow your businesses.
